Welcome to Mail Memories. By downloading or using the app, you agree to these terms. We’ve tried to keep them short and readable.

1. The License (How you can use it)

When you pay for Mail Memories, you are paying to unlock unlimited photo downloads for a single, specific email address. The app itself is free to download and install on any device.

• Per-Email Unlock: Your purchase unlocks the full archive for one specific Gmail account. You can use the app on any Mac or Windows PC you own to access that unlocked account.
• No Reselling: You cannot redistribute, resell, or lease your unlocked access or the software binary.
• No Reverse Engineering: Please don’t decompile or reverse engineer the app to build a copycat product.

2. Payments & Refunds

Because Mail Memories offers a free scan to test your connection and download images before purchasing, we have a specific refund policy:

• One-Time Purchase: The license is a one-time payment of $19 per email address. It is not a subscription.
• Refunds: If the app successfully connects to your account but you simply change your mind, we do not offer refunds. However, if a critical bug prevents the app from downloading your photos and we cannot fix it within 7 days, we will happily issue a full refund.

3. Your Data & Responsibility

Mail Memories is a local-first application. This means:

• Backups: You are responsible for your own data. Because the app moves files to your hard drive, you should ensure you have a backup system (like macOS Time Machine or Windows Backup) in place.
• Email Safety: While our app is read-only and designed to be safe, you agree that we are not responsible for any accidental data loss or corruption that occurs on your computer or email account.

4. Updates

We may release updates to fix bugs or add features. We aren’t legally obligated to provide updates forever, but we intend to support the app for as long as it is viable.

5. Third-Party Services (Google)

Mail Memories relies on Google’s IMAP service to connect to your account and download your photos. By using this app, you also agree to comply with Google’s Terms of Service.

• API Changes: We have no control over Google’s infrastructure. If Google changes their IMAP limits, disables App Passwords, or restricts access in a way that breaks the app, we are not liable for the loss of functionality.
• Rate Limits: Google enforces daily download limits (currently around 2.5GB per day). You agree that pausing and waiting for these limits to reset is a normal part of using the software.

6. Liability (“As Is”)

This is the standard legal clause for software:

(In plain English: Software is complex. We tested it thoroughly, but if a bug causes an issue, you can’t sue us for more than the cost of the app.)

7. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of New York.
