How do I create a Google App Password?

Because Mail Memories runs locally on your computer, it uses an official Google “App Password” to connect securely without ever seeing your real password.

To create one: Go to Google’s App Passwords page, enter “Mail Memories” for the “App Name”, and click the “Create” button. Copy the password and paste it in Mail Memories.

Windows is showing a blue “SmartScreen” warning.

Because Mail Memories is a new app built by an independent developer, Windows Defender hasn’t seen it downloaded enough times to automatically “trust” it yet. If you see a blue warning screen during installation, simply click "More info" and then click “Run anyway”.

I paid, but my app is still locked.

Sometimes it takes a few seconds for Stripe to securely notify the app that your payment was successful. Try completely closing the Mail Memories app and reopening it. If it still hasn't unlocked your email address, email us with your receipt and we will fix it immediately.

Where do my downloaded photos go?

By default, the app creates a new folder called "Mail Memories" inside your computer’s main Pictures folder. Inside that folder, your photos are automatically sorted into subfolders by year (e.g., 2008, 2009, 2010).

How do I uninstall the app?

Mac: Open your Applications folder and drag Mail Memories to the Trash.
Windows: Go to Settings > Apps > Installed Apps, find Mail Memories, and click Uninstall.

Note: Uninstalling the app will not delete the photos you’ve already downloaded. Those are safely stored in your Pictures folder.
